Ocean’s Daughter
This song began as a poem called “The Man and The Boat,” which I wrote for my husband. Some boats sail best in deep waters…and I am definitely one of those boats.

Song: OCEAN’S DAUGHTER
Lyrics by: Angie Nussey
The boat had sailed three times before,
And each time ended up on the shore,
The captains said “She was built well enough”,
“Her center was sturdy, but her sides were rough”,
They said her sails were too big for the wind,
When the hard rains came she’d be end over end.
But one man thought all the rest were wrong,
He saw she was made for when this winds were strong,
And although close to home she would always falter,
He knew she would fly, in the deeper water.
So one day he packed up all his things,
And untied the boat from the docking rings,
As they made their way through the twists and bends,
He thought one mile ‘til the small water ends,
She creaked and groaned like a sad old lady,
But he held the ropes, and kept on waiting.
And sure enough, the small wind turned,
The main sail filled as the big winds churned,
They found themselves in clear blue water,
The brave, brave man and the ocean’s daughter.
The man who thought all the rest were wrong,
Who saw she was made for when the winds were strong,
And although close to home she would always falter,
He knew she would fly, in the deeper waters.
